Pros

Benefits, Health, Retirement, pay is very good. Very satisfied as of now and when my retirement kicks in 767,000 in retirement

Cons

It seems like oil will be scarce in the next 25 years so job outlook may not be well. Hopefully no more oil spills.

I worked at BP as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexibility, established process, big enough to move into different roles to reduce boredom, internal opportunity to learn. Technical path exists parallel to management for those who want to pursue their area of expertise instead of management.

    Cons

Higher positions seem to be lazy and merit raises are routinely cancelled due to economic conditions or partial furloughs implemented. Morale fluxuates within different departments. Benefits reduced year to year.

  2. "Good company but grew too fast and is paying the price"

I have been working at BP full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay & benefits, lots of opportunity to spread your wings if your willing to travel

    Cons

More bureaucracy than the federal government. Seems like the company is still trying to sort through the many mergers of late 90's. Stock options only given to higher levels in the organization.

    Advice to Management

Stay on track with efforts to standardize the organizational structure, design specifications, and QA/QC program to further reduce risk, Share stock options with the worker bees lower in the ranks and you might be surprised how much more efficient they become.
