I worked at BPM (More than a year)

Pros

Easy staff to work with. Smart Managers and Directors. Solid client base with years of experience.

Cons

Restructuring of the company. Some lack of clear communication involved with Partner/Manager/Staff. Hard to get billable hours, some managers keep client work for themselves and do not delegate.

    Pros

BPM is all about the people and really cares about staff morale. It is one of the largest regional firms in the bay area that offers a lot of opportunity but you really have to take the initiative to take advantage of those opportunities. The training program is commendable and offered year-round. Overall it is a great public accounting firm.

    Cons

With all the mergers that have happened over the past two years, the company is feeling growing pains. It is still in the process of consolidating best practices and forming a sense of unity amongst the different offices. Each office definitely has its own unique work environment.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management really does a great job with recognizing and awarding those who work hard. If there was anything that could be improved upon, it would be that they need to be more equitable in offering new opportunities to staff so they are not working on the same jobs in the same industry. It is also important to allow members to work with different managers so they can gain more experience working with different teams.

I have been working at BPM full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice people, decent benefits, competitive salary. You can get a lot of good experience in 2 years (including planning and reporting) and a lot of emphasis is put on passing the CPA exam.

    Cons

Sometimes good work goes unappreciated. If you don't learn to say no, upper management will recognize it and work you until you burn out.

    Advice to Management

Recognize your people for their good work and don't take advantage of the overachievers or they'll leave the industry for good.
