I worked at BT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of responsibility and ownership is given. Depends on an individual to grow in the organisation. Good salaries a plus.

    Cons

A lot of red tape exists in the organisation. A lot of unworthy people in the organisation. Needs to be careful in hiring.

I have been working at BT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

BTGS has the opportunity to become a premier global Professional Services and equipment supplier. They have enough OEM strategic partnerships to gain a foothold over other Telecom and Professional Services companies.

    Cons

US BTGS does not have a strong strategic direction. The leadership does not understand the business. They are throwing "past experience" in their chosen fields at a problem that does not call for this type of strategy. Many strong people are continuing to exodus.

    Advice to Management

Follow Jack Welch's advice. In order to plan long term, you have to eat short term. Much like the businesses in the US, employees will not be engaged until the footing underneath them is sure. The longer you wait to align your ducks, the more will get shot.
