Pros

Working for BT will challenge you and allow you to learn from the good and the bad.

Cons

Failure to integrate acquisitions. Decision making is not distributed -- tends to go up the chain. Lack of executive direction. Recent execs focus on personal compensation versus proper restructuring of the company to meet market needs and provide shareholder value.

Advice to Management

Get to know your own business, seek individuals with proven ways of successfully conducting business differently, and engage those individuals in leading the entire company in its transformation (execs, don't assume you know the answers when you don't know the business and don't look to external consultants to take your incorrect inputs and define a restructure).

    Pros

Knowledgeable people and interesting projects. Work is very much field driven, despite what upper management says. Being a consultant here can be an absolute joy depending on project. Even a bad project is never too bad because of the home office support.

    Cons

Sometimes hard to get reviews and raises - almost to the point of nagging. Communication on integration with BT proper has been sparse. Almost to the point that many are wondering if we'll ever integrate. Also, this is sometimes used as an excuse not to make salary adjustments ("wait until the integration").

    Advice to Management

More communication about BT integration, direction of the company after integrations, etc.

    Pros

Good work and life balance. A large percentage of the employees in the US work from home offices. Starting vacation is 15 days even for entry level. But in addition, each also employee receives 5 floating holidays. Essentially, each employee starts with 4 weeks of vacation time.

    Cons

Promotions rarely happen within an organization unless you are recommended for or apply for an open position at a higher pay scale. But it's easy enough to change positions within the company. Job postings are readily available online.

    Advice to Management

Go back to the old ways. The new management structure especially in the USA is not working well.
