Pros

This review is for pre-acquisition: - Great work/life balance - Great co-workers who are understanding - Competitive pay and benefits - Lots of growth and learning available - Overall very positive environment to be in

Cons

- The company was sold off to J2 Global and most of the staff was cut - The company struggled to maintain growth and profitability - The leadership didn't seem to have a clue on how to fix the trajectory of this company - There's new leadership and a lot of uncertainty post-acquisition - A lot of the tech stack is showing its age - Many talented engineers have already left

Pros

If you are a contractor, you have pretty good work/life balance. I worked here for 2 years and I've had a positive experience, even though I didn't get converted to full time (it's understandable in a financial standpoint). I've learned a lot here and my manager gave me the opportunity to take on more projects and tasks, which made good use of my 2 years here. I came here 2 years after graduating from college and it has helped shape me. The team dynamic here is great. You get invited to some company events and your managers will have your back. I can't speak for all contractors, but my manager made me feel included and a part of his team. He also made it clear to me that it is very hard to get converted to full time and was very transparent with whether or not I have a chance of getting converted. He also helped me get an extension, which gave me time to look for a new job. The location of this office is great. It's close to bart, caltrain, and muni. If you are a recent college grad who is looking to learn, BabyCenter will help you grow and I can guarantee you that you will learn a lot here. The pay is also not bad. The c-level execs are awesome, too. They make everyone feel like they are a part of the company.

Cons

It's difficult to get converted from a contractor to a full time employee, but I want to stress that this isn't entirely in BabyCenter's control. No benefits, but you can get some benefits from the contracting company you're with.
