I have been working at Bain & Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Teamwork and culture are the focal point of Bain. You will be challenged and stretched with the level of responsibility given to you at every stage in your career, but you will be given every amount of support from your teams to be successful at what you do. As far as client-services work goes, the problems Bain is brough in to solve are often at the forefront of senior executives' minds. Bain works hard to deliver practical results that the client can use, instead of an array of unprioritized opinions. There is a deep focus on driving to an answer early on during cases, instead of waiting to turn over every rock and then deciding the best path forward. Answers are developed collaboratively with the client, which helps maximize the likelihood that clients will take to action even after Bain is finished with their deliverables.

    Cons

The job will take as much from you as you will give it. One must learn to set boundaries and proactively manage work/life balance. Bain is very respectful of work/life balance and personal priorities and committments, but only if you are actively voicing them and communicating them to the team. Balance can be achieved on this job, but it, too, will only come with thoughtful work and planning.

I worked at Bain & Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great exposure to senior management at clients. Learning from the best. Excellent internal training programs. The best company trips ever.

    Cons

Tremendous workload (NO life). Too much private equity (non corporate) work. Extremely hierarchical. Unequal opportunities for female consultants.
