I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time

Pros

Pay and benefits are decent. Some good job opportunities. Enjoyable and talented coworkers for the most part.

Cons

Highly political and beaurocratic environment. Many employees work long hours and/or are expected to handle email and take phone calls while on vacation. Too many competing initiatives, so most are reduced to box-checking missions. Many difficult and complex processes and systems. Rush to begin work on projects while planning still in progress results in wasted work, rework and confused outcomes.

    Pros

Baker has awesome training programs. Most of the management has at least 20+ years of oil and gas experience. It is a great place to learn.

    Cons

moving across product lines is not as easy.

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It is a good place to work with good people. They definitely award high performance.

    Cons

So many systems to have to work with. You have about 4 different systems to work with in engineering and none of them are connected. You have to work in all of these different systems entering much of the same information. Also, supply chain and engineering are completely different worlds. You might as well put a black box around both of them because neither group knows or understands what the other is doing.

    Advice to Management

Need more efficiency in systems that are used for work. Also Engineering and Supply chain need a better understanding of each other's roles.
