I worked at Baker Hughes full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good infrastructure. Great benefits. Lots of opportunity for advancement.

Cons

Lots of red tape. Not enough headcount. Employees must fight for advancement. Poor career planning from management.

Advice to Management

Increase headcount in support roles. Stop rolling out initiatives that don't improve anything, such as variant configurator or lapse days reduction to 10 in a district that is already at 3 days.

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Some of the best benefits and pay in the industry for new employees in the field. Great training, caring supervisors. Exciting promotion opportunities in the Geomarkets. Good future.

    Cons

Executive level management completely out of touch with reality of what's going on inside organization. Mass exodus of extremely good mid level managers due to paralysis by analysis, a horrible Product Development process, projects are being delayed, rejected due to lack of resources or understanding of market. Fear they are going to miss big opportunities in coming boom. Salary structure way out of whack compared to competitors. Everyone who is leaving is getting a 25 to 40% raise.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of CEO...has lost touch with reality. Bringing in outside consultants advocating that everyone forget the past, only look at future, have good attitude, while changing nothing to correct ongoing errors.
