I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time

Pros

There are many areas you can move into. The jobs pay great and you may not need a degree for some fields.

Cons

It takes time to transfer and move up. You have to be at your position for 2 years before you can move.

Advice to Management

Make the time before transferring one year as it was. If employees move, it's only to where Baker Hughes could better use someone and have someone be where they want. Quite an obvious use of efficiency and allocation of resources. Consider your stockholders, you have an obligation to maximize dividends. If you are not allocating resources in a more efficient way that also retains employees, are you being ethical?

    Pros

Good pay, and benefits. Opportunities for advancement if you kiss up to the right people. Management clearly has favorites , and promotes personal friends.

    Cons

It can be difficult to advance. You are not given much training to learn skills needed for higher paying positions. no matter how much experience you have, if you don't have a degree, or aren't close personal friend with the managers you're not going anywhere.

    Advice to Management

    value and reward the experienced

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Large company, variety of jobs/people/locations. Easy to interact with senior management. Oilfield isn't going anywhere.

    Cons

Baker Hughes is strangling itself with bureaucracy, voluntarily. New products and ideas are endlessly dissected by unqualified people in countless meetings. The silo type structure hasn't changed since 'Baker One' 4 years ago and the 'divisions' barely acknowledge each others existence.

    Advice to Management

Move faster. Don't stifle innovation. Reduce the workload for product development and eliminate the deadwood.
