I worked at Baker Hughes as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

The company in many aspects is flexible to the employee. Was given important and enjoyable tasks. People are commitment to academic integrity and growth.

Cons

Low profit margin leads to lower salary, less money for projects. In some senses it appeared there was a ceiling you would hit with Baker Hughes fairly quickly.

Advice to Management

Continue funding new projects and stressing safety. Encourage growth of young employees more.

I have been working at Baker Hughes full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

My co-workers are niece people. The pay is competitive. Benefits are good, but they are slowly fading away. The company is the number 3 company in the oilfield services industry.

    Cons

The work load continues to increase with no end in sight. The is a low of pressure to meet deadlines while every week there is a new policy that makes it harder do do our jobs. Dilbert cartoons are a lot funnier if you aren't living them!

    Advice to Management

IT, HSE and HR need to be held accountable to their internal customers. Any new policy or process needs to reviewed by the people affected and by management to determine its affect on productivity. It's difficult enough to compete tasks assigned by my boss without interference from a hundred different unknown people who assign tasks that in many cases aren't even necessary and at best make my job harder.
