Pros

Pay is ok. Unsupervised work-day. Company truck & tools.

Cons

Where to start? The hours can just be ridiculous & you can't go home until everything installed works perfectly... not that that is a bad thing since you're employed to make them work right, but sometimes it seems like the majority of the equipment you're installing doesn't work right.

Work every Sat & Sun and only have one weekday off.

Pay is just "ok". Doesn't matter how much experience you have as a technician, the pay is still just "ok". ... and in my opinion, just not worth the time & effort you put into the job and away from your family.

Advice to Management

At the very least, every other Sat or Sun off. Only Wednesday off and working every Sat & Sun in a fairly stressful job is just asking your techs to eventually either just not give a damn anymore or leave your company.

I worked at Baker Installations (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You can pick up a pay check. Depending on the office you work from your experience may be slightly better. I did not have the opportunity to work within every system.

    Cons

Management is disconnected from the employees and profit driven in destructive self serving ways. There is lots if nepotism and you are encouraged to be dishonest to meet deadlines and time frames. The company culture if ten promotes scapegoating the wrong people and shifting blame. Many employees lack professionalism and the company seems to be alright with sexual harassment. I could go on and on about how morally bankrupt and underhanded things are at this company. It is not a place you want to work for any amount of time.

    Advice to Management

I don't think there is anything the could do short of cleaning house in much of management and shifting the company's culture drastically. In the long term I suspect they will survive, but only by bending rules and exploiting their employees and relationships within the cable industry.
