Pros

Many days off similar to Puerto Rico government. Good health plan coverage.

Cons

Old School Management. Socialism mentality, do not have layoffs but not salary increases or growth opportunities for high achievers and hard working people. Everyone gets the same. People are not motivated. Benefits provided by many companies including some small businesses have been cut such as no 401k Matching for some years, 0 salary increase for about 5 years, no profit sharing, salary lower than average. If you are like working to work for the government but withouth the retirement benefits then this is your place. If you are a hard worker and high achiever and want to growth this is the worst company to be at this time and been compensated accordingly.

Advice to Management

Management should spend less time in meetings and making useless analysis that only measure "who has the fault" or "covering their backs" and spend more time actually managing people and working toward the company goals.

    Pros

Job stability, good work environment and respect. There are opportunities to learn and develop while working at an entry-level position.

    Cons

Low pay and high qualification requirements.
    Eliminating and/or cutting benefits.
Local goverment is their biggest customer and local economic outlook looks grim.

    Advice to Management

Efficiency needs to be started from the top-down. Cutting benefits and salaries at the low level discourage the persons who have direct contact with customers. You need to invest in the assets and resources that makes the business run everyday. For example, a 10% pay cut at the top does not affect much top management lifestyle but that same amount of money if distributed to those at the bottom makes a huge difference in their quality of life.
