I have been working at Banfield Pet Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Comprehensive health care for pets, wellness plans can make preventive care more affordable for owners. Hours can be flexible due to the extended hours of the hospitals.

    Cons

Corporate bureaucracy gets in the way of operating the business. Decisions about management in the hospital and pet care should not always be dictated by a "one-size-fits-all" approach from the corporation.

    Advice to Management

    Don't micro-manage and expect perfection.

I have been working at Banfield Pet Hospital full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with, fast paced and exciting, have the opportunity to learn a lot. Great benefits package but pay is worth practically nothing.

    Cons

Dont think you will get raises because you WONT, maybe max of $0.05 a year which you have to write essays for to prove you are 'worthy', you will bust your butt wrestling animals and getting all manner of bodily excretions flung on you all for a peasant's earnings. The veterinary profession in general is horribly underpaid for the amount of knowledge, skill, physical and emotional strength that you must posess, and being with such a huge Mars company would lead you to believe they could pay better and care more with all the profits they are earning but that couldnt be farther from the truth. And they expect you to make a certain number of sales of Wellness Plans, as well as complete hours upon hours of coursework on the clock while you are running around doing all your other job duties. You will work 12 hour days just like a human nurse would, yet get paid about 1/3 of what they earn, and their patients dont usually bite! Take my advice, work for a private vet or go get a nursing degree.
