I have been working at Banfield Pet Hospital full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Large scale corporation of veterinary hospitals. Many hospitals equipped with state of the art equipment. Continued education encouraged, sometimes compensated. Flexible scheduling. Opportunity for growth professionally. Linked computers, customers can travel with their healthcare packages and have medical history transferred.

Cons

Pressure to upsell. The bad reputation Banfield gets from clients of "nickel and diming" customers is from pressure from management.

I worked at Banfield Pet Hospital full-time

    Pros

Great continuing education, benefits, the teams usually get along well and the veterinarians I have worked with have all been willing to teach and work with the veterinary technician's, you feel like in the hospital your voice counts.

    Cons

Consent pressure from corporate to sell the more expensive wellness plans. At one point we were being told we need to "triple penetrate" the clients for various types of preventative plans. There is constant over scheduling of exams and surgeries. Most the time you will end up working 14 hour shifts and not just the 10 hours you were scheduled that day.

    Advice to Management

Care more about the quality of medicine you are providing and forget about the pressure from corporate. Do not continue to schedule more exam's and surgeries then you or your staff can handle, and educate your staff better on anesthetic protocols.

I have been working at Banfield Pet Hospital part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company offers great benefits and pay advances depending on experience and longevity.

    Cons

Some locations are very money driven and have no care in the world for patient care. You really have to look for a good location.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the concerns of the para-professionals.
