    Pros

It is big. So it is stable

    Cons

The firm seems filled with old and lazy employees, whose only concern is internal politics. Even in the investment arm, politics is so subtle that it has to be a first concern. Technology innovation is remote fantasy in this firm. Creativity is choked by people who just want to have a "safe" job.

    Advice to Management

Really need to fire a lot of old tardies.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent compensation and benefits, work/life balance and you'll have to be a complete idiot to be fired! Retail banking is not a good career move unless you're looking for something stable with slow upward mobility or you're fine with doing the same job for years on end.

    Cons

IMPORTANT THAT YOU READ THIS IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT RETAIL BANKING!! The culture of BofA was great for slackers who have worked for the company for years. Newer and often younger employees with more intelligence and drive typically get stuck (used) in lower level positions in retail banking units because there are many "lifers" in the company. Do the math.. each major retail market has a least 30 banking centers, that means there are roughly 350+ Tellers, 80+ Personal Bankers, 30 Assistant Managers, 30 Managers and only one or two Market Managers and only ONE Executive Market Manager role! To move up there's a tremendous amount of politicking, favoritism and luck. Furthermore, BofA's scorecard for each role is almost entirely nonsensical when comparing one banking center to another. Let's face it, BofA's retail banking is broken due to a combination of poor management and cronyism. Needless to say, if you are looking for a career then stay away from retail banking at BofA!
