I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Good pay scale. Flexible working arrangements. Some smart people who really do try to do the right thing, despite the bureaucracy.

Cons

I came over during the Merrill Lynch merger. Since then, I've had several new managers, and never meet any of them in person. There are 400 tools needed to do your job, and it's easy to spend a day wrestling with a tool instead of doing real work. The bureaucracy can be stifling.

Advice to Management

For starters, working flexibly and remotely is a FANTASTIC benefit, but loosen up the travel dollars and let project teams get together more often.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits, educational/training opportunities, and matching gifts up to $5K per annum. Lots of volunteer opportunities. A large company that offers multiple career tracks.

    Cons

It can be difficult to maneuver due the size and complexity of the organization.

    Advice to Management

Continue to foster talent. Look for and groom those diamonds in the rough that have the potential to be future leaders.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Bank of America was a great experience, a good mixture of reasonable and unreasonable lower level managers, good chances to prove yourself, easy hours(relatively speaking). Large amount of politics in a low level office. Fellow associates were fairly nice in general.

    Cons

Weak salary, competitive, but not collegiate about it, everyone is a number. Doing the right thing was not as important as doing the best thing for you, your manager, and your department. Often felt pressure to do activities that weren't in the right spirit of judgmentally fair action. Upper management treated the office more like a pen within which people had to be managed, and people embraced it. People lacked professionalism in many cases, and lying/irregular behavior was common. High turnover.
