I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 8 years)

Pros

Excellent benefits, ability to work from home in some positions, 12 weeks paid maternity/paternity leave, advancement opportunities, competitive compensation, generous vacation and sick leave, back up child care program, company discounts, etc.

Cons

The environment and culture are definitely big corporate. Sometimes you can feel like just a number. To work here you have to be very comfortable with constant change. Work/life balance is encouraged but it is still a stressful environment with an emphasis on production.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good; some occasional overtime hours available if you want them. There is probably a lot of opportunity if you can muddle through the disconnection and the robot-like atmosphere.

    Cons

Staff didn't seem willing to train; they acted like it was a big inconvenience. My immediate supervisor was never available to speak with me; there was always a phone call or meeting she had to attend to. Everyone seemed pretty disconnected. Most people were shocked when I walked into the department each morning and said "good morning."

  2. "New brand is great for customers, work culture devalues retail associates."

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Solid brand, distinct universally applied procedures, strong training programs and good diversity across the company.

    Cons

Advancement not based on meritocracy, high middle management turnaround, company devalues retail banking employees unless they are extremely high performing salespeople. The hardest working are often the least paid.

    Advice to Management

Pay close attention to who actually does the work in your individual banking centers, cull the deadweight managers and lift up the hardworking individuals who are doing their jobs.
