I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

The pay is good, even just starting out as a teller. You can't beat some of the benefits that they offer, like tuition and child care reimbursement, paid vacation and sick time, just to name a few. There are many opportunities to promote within Bank of America.

Cons

Even though there are many opportunities for promotions with Bank of America, I feel like sometimes the person filling the roles are either unqualified or underserving in comparison to other applicants. The job can also be very stressful at times.

Advice to Management

Take a look and reevaluate the sales goals for some centers. I work in a very low income area and struggle to get even 60 or 70 percent of my goals.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Too large to fail. You do not have to deliver value or do any real work. You only have to play politics and you will be fine, since it is too big to fail.

    Cons

Red taped. Inefficient. Does not reward high performance. Benefits are horrible and they get worst as you make more money. They took away the pension fund.

    Advice to Management

    Hold people accountable

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Good advancement opportunities
    Excellent benefits
    Wide range of career paths
    Stable work envirionment
    Fair salary and bonus range
    Fair review and performance plans
Enviroinmentally and socially conscious company who gives back and puts money into philanthropy
Innovative problem solving to meet client needs
Associate reward systems - great at recognizing and rewarding hard work

    Cons

Highly hierarchtical with layers of management who may not have a useful function
Right hand may not know what left hand is doing - certain level of disconnectedness
Promotions can be based on relationship (who knows who) versus actual skill and talent
Easy to get locked into a career path that may not be by choice - at a certain level, promotions may be assigned instead of applied for
No management training to teach managers how to manage people, rather focuses on performance of function and tasks

    Advice to Management

Implement management training for all new managers. Continue to be a strong company who invests in associates and the community. Even in difficult economic times, don't neglect associate programs and your commitment to philanthropy.
