I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits (12 weeks off parental leave for women and men), pay is better than other banks in area, good amount of vacation and personal/sick days.

    Cons

Layoffs, hiring freezes, demotions common with BAC. Whole sites are shut down or switched to new roles constantly. Might be different in other lines of business ...

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to put a positive spin on every negative decision that is made. Employees aren't stupid so don't treat them that way.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Health benefits
    Free bank accounts
    Generally consistent hours

    Cons

    Unpaid commission for sales/leads
Higher positions (even management) based on sales/numbers/time and not any actual knowledge
Company is ridiculously stingy and cheap
Constantly changing and setting new standards

    Advice to Management

Managers should be able to manage. Not just be glorified personal bankers. Also, numbers are crucial yes, but seriously taking advantage of people just to get your numbers up is the wrong way to go about business. There is a reason why Credit Unions are growing so rapidly and it is because of transparency. And because of approval rates on loans, of course. But still BofA doesn't really care for transparency. Also, tellers do not get paid for the sales they create. It's a ridiculous structure actually. You upsell a product to a customer and then they are brought to the personal banker who fills the paperwork and they get the commission. Absolutely ridiculous. Say goodbye to every teller who is smart enough to know the value of a sale.
