I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

Pros

uncapped commissions, quality of life outside of work, great benefits, I like also like the direction Bank of America is heading in and hope it stays on course

Cons

to much micro management, reports after reports after reports

Advice to Management

add some consistency, the bank pushes so much constant change it seems as if once you get comfortable with a new policy or company initiative a new one has replaced it....

    Cons

everything is sales and numbers now. They are restructuring so who knows how the changes going to affect work place.

I have been working at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stability, not a super strict work environment and can dress pretty casually. They do try to offer site wide activites for associate satisfaction but sometimes they are poorly executed.

    Cons

Being here 5 years, there have been few opportunities to move into something else. Anytime a position opens, the hiring managers expect a lot of effort on your part (i.e. coming in multiple times on your off days or lunch breaks to learn more) well before the job posting to demonstrate interest. Unfortunately, the different job functions aren't clear and often times you don't know a job exists until its posted. And by that time they have several people they have in mind for the job, they are just posting it as a formality. Also, not being located in the main locations (DE or Charlotte) makes the growth opportunities even more limited.

They expect quite a bit of effort for a very small increase in pay. They are quite skimpy with increases, it's taken me 5 years to get to making $30k base salary, and the only way to make more money is to really just move up in the company. If you have the opportunity to get a bonus each month, when they determine your yearly raise, they take how much you earned in bonues and add it to your yearly and consider that in how much they will give you in a base salary increase. If you are doing well on bonuses, you are probably not going to get the biggest increase, but in the end you make more money anyway with bonuses if you perform well.

Very few people in my location have a M-F schedule and many work 2nd or 3rd shifts. However, they do offer compensation for those who work later shifts (8% pay). Also depending on your department, you will likely work holidays, even if its selecting a few out the year to work. Requesting vacatim time can be a challenge, especially if you are new, as its mostly done by seniority with the company and the particular department you are in. Often times, you will run out of vacation before the years over if you have a lot of weekend activities since you likely will work at least 2 days between Friday and Monday.

    Advice to Management

Create better opportunities and openness about opportunities to allow people the opportunity to grow with the company.
