I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's nationwide, standard benefits, community involvement

    Cons

I worked in the mortgage area in collections. I did well, and made bonuses most months. When BOA does reviews they have "Meets expectations" ,"High Meets Expectations", and "low meets expectations." I would take 100-150 collections calls a day, and only got a "meets expectations" on my review. I was burned out on collections and tried to apply for another job within the entire BOA network, but the only people that ever were successful in getting another position within the company were the people that had been rated higher.

It was a rat-race and unless you are good at brown-nosing, you will never get ahead there.

    Advice to Management

make your employee reviews more fair.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Organized, consistent company with large volumes. Opportunities exist within the areas of operation for certain types or for those with certain connections.

    Cons

Regular layoffs; high risk of layoff in mortgage loan servicing sector; senior leadership is not always fair and does not honestly communicate upcoming changes and layoffs in advance. People are not paid what they are worth and annual raises and bonuses are tightly capped.

    Advice to Management

Be honest & straightforward about upcoming changes and sales of subsidiary companies (such as the Field Service Co. sale), and the impact such actions will have on associates. Offer larger annual bonus and increases to top performers.
