I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Some departments are better run than others.

Cons

Unfair or invalid reporting or production numbers to score performance.
No loyalty to employees.

Advice to Management

It's not about the performance numbers. They don't tell the whole picture. It's about how the customers should be treated by the employees. Some people were hired without any interview at all because they knew someone not by their skills.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It was a great place to work. Management made us all feel like one big family. There were ups and downs due to the nature of the bond business, but I always worked hard and was recognized for that. Great benefits and perks.

    Cons

LaSalle was sold to BoA and subsequently our division was sold as well.

I worked at Bank of America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some extremely smart people. Good work culture in some divisions.

    Cons

I have had some very good managers in this company but I hate to say that there are many elements in management in this company that are involved in & set an example of cheap politics, complete lack of transparency and above all completely insensitive of peoples ethnic backgrounds.

Expectation of loyalty from employees, by the management should accompany a behavior that exemplifies the promotion of diversity, good language, purposeful use of tools provided by HR for professional development, none of which was I a witness to in bank of america.

Jokes pertaining to ethnic backgrounds are common and senior management thinks its cool. Very sad experience. Malicious use of language is common as well. This is particularly common in IVM.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like you wish to be treated! Easy to hear and easy to say but difficult to implement.
Managers in Bank of America should realise that with power comes responsibility to nurture society for the future, which can only be done with good intent & understanding of humans with diverse ethnic backgrounds.
