Pros

Friendly coworkers, customer satisfaction, 3 JD Power awards, some areas are very lucky to have seasoned senior management who support their staff, some areas have great employee recognition and leadership programs, 12 paid bank holidays for full time employees, opportunities to take personal development courses, tuition reimbursement, health benefits, 401K, bonus for Senior mgmt and branch sales employees, free checking and cashiers checks, no fees if you use your Bank of the West ATM at BNP ATM's in Europe

Cons

poor employee work perks program, no loans for employees without perfect credit score because bank is so conservative, sometimes Executive management hires Senior managers with poor/ no leadership skills, Slow technological improvements. And when technology is rolled out there is not appropriate training before hand.

Advice to Management

Screen your Senior Management team more thoroughly prior to hiring and make sure they get some leadership and HR training if they are hired. Get feedback from their staff after they are hired. Employee surveys mean nothing if Senior management doesn't change or grow. Michael Shepherd is great and has great plans for the bank but wish he put more focus on management.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

A great customer and service focus and they will bend over backwards to make a deal happen for an attractive client.

    Cons

The ticket to success in the new BOW is to be from somewhere else. Internal promotions have been few and far between for the past 3 years. The new management team does not really have a comprehensive plan for growing the franchise and catching up with the big boys on technology.

    Advice to Management

Your predecessors grew through acquisition and the last team did their best at switching to organic growth. If you have a plan it would be dandy to share it with the staff and get back to valuing the little people who make it happen each day.

    Advice to Management

Remember, we're supposed to be a bank
