Pros

Flexibility, Thorough and well designed training, support from team members, ever exisiting opportunities to progress, and the fact that Barclays remains within the top 5 retail banks in the industry across the globe.

Cons

Lack of opportunities for multilingual employees to be transferred internationally.

Advice to Management

Invest more time and funds in young and fresh talent who possess the potential to help company outclass its competitors such as HSBC...

    I have been working at Barclays full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Good compensation, Good housekeeping of the building, eatable food in the cafeteria(initially one usually happy with it)

    Cons

    1) Company culture is not good. Its not employee friendly, all focus is on the clients and they are like Gods to management here, and employee is only a hired skilled labor
    2) Lots of people feel overworked without logical and smart reasons and have to bear whims and fancies of client (on shore people) with no consideration of improving motivation level and unable to find justified reasons for accepting work smartly.
    3) Way to move up corporate ladder - a dead end. Very tough to go up.
    4) Some people are overqualified for their roles with whom they are getting sub-quality work done with no consideration of their future and career ,and some are under-qualified whom they are giving trainings which are already known by people sitting in poorer profiles.
    5) Infrastructure is a problem, though acceptable, as its a growing company and they are trying to improve and manage.
    6) People do not feel motivated and there is so much pressure sometimes that one works on weekends for a particular period . Overall work life balance is pretty less or skewed.
    7) 'Get the work done' focus only and no focus on employee learning and growing up in their career
