Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Barclays full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Good work life balance if you want it

Cons

Poor upper management; Have no idea how compensation decisions are made

Advice to Management

Compensate top performers; grow junior staff (very little respect for junior staff, top-heavy institution).

    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Barclays full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent pay
    Somewhat prestigious name
    Some exposure to complex transactions
Front office very diplomatic and professional

    Cons

First and foremost this place is territorial and political, that's what it seems that it strives to be, and is completely at peace with it.
    No mobility, even horizontally
Managers are self-serving employee sacrificing mechanisms of self promotion
Barclays culture completely gone, replaced by entrenched territorial interests of Lehman Brothers
No bonuses in operations for 2 years

    Advice to Management

Get everyone from Lehman brothers out. Evaluate personell based on merits, accomplishments, and background and offer new opportunities and advancement based on that, not by political cunning.

Laid back work culture, average workforce, easy to perform and shine, promotes internal mobility

    Cons

Very unstable, layoffs every few months. Almost impossible to get promoted even after good work, long queues and politics involved
