Pros

Barclays Wealth brand - looks good on your CV
Good work/life balance
time off - when requested
people are friendly
job progression - but only if you are like by management (all for the wrong reason)

Cons

management absolute joke !
No communication skills, more politics then the british government!
unskilled people, there are too many people that are not skilled in their jobs (inclusive of management)
salary is poor.....you are better off working in a retail store.....and lest not forget bonuses...absolute joke, wanted to give my bonus back to the bank.
Barclays wealth does not recieve the same benefits like the investment banking arm
communication is poor (im sure I said that already)
very stingy - we have to buy our own tea/coffe/sugar (guess i should be lucky that they provide the hot water)
too sales focus and not customer focused
No training provided on systems
unfair personal development grading
......................an absolute shocker of a company...........!!!

Advice to Management

Set realistic targets and concentrate on client service
listen to your employees and give feedbak
improve on communication
Please redevelop personal development grading - as it is clearly not working
Bring employees salary in line with other wealth management companys as we are well below market
This year you will see ALOT of employees leave wealth management, due to the low morale and there is no incentive to stay.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Great benefits and employee support in London Headquarters - staff canteen, building, gym, 6 weeks holiday, pension plan, and corporate responsibility

    Cons

As per the headline, it's just too big and too retail-focused to be able to make changes quickly. Because of the size, there's also a lot of stakeholder management and politics -- meaning it takes a strong communicator and self-promoter to thrive.

    Advice to Management

The separateness of the business units and fiefdoms is both a plus and a minus. It really seems like improved communication and shared strategy between Barclaycard and Retail should be a focus (just as an example)

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Good office facilities, relatively less stress compared to other banks I worked in, no much weekend work and relaxed dress code

    Cons

Virtually all high level IT managers lack either management or IT experience. Current IT management directors would spend time doing politics and hiring their friends rather than doing pure IT. People looking for themselves, no teamwork being encouraged. No cultural diversity. Japanese employees not encouraged.

    Advice to Management

Spend more time understanding the projects you manage and that's going to help the whole firm not just you personally.
