I have been working at Barnes & Noble part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

flexible schedule - was easily able to finish school and maintain employment. Great co-workers - really almost all became close friends.

Cons

Lower salaries, typical retail job otherwise. it is helpful to have an external interest in books to make recommendations.

I worked at Barnes & Noble full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good health insurance, attempts at trying to seem to care for the employees

    Cons

They do layoffs EVERY year right after MLK birthday. Where careers come to dies.

    Advice to Management

Let employees know there is no growth. Don't hire anyone under 40 and no kids for that reason.

I worked at Barnes & Noble part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This is a great place to work if you like books. I worked here as a part-time bookseller for several years while attending school. If you work full time and are good at your job, there are advancement opportunities. They're pretty good about raises. Very flexible scheduling.

    Cons

Relatively low pay at first. Stores sometimes close, and you have to try to find a new job at another of their stores.
