I have been working at Bayer full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Average Pay and benefits, good coworkers.
Decent training department to get the experience needed to go to work for a better petrochemical company.

Cons

Be ready to be belittled everyday you come to work. Engineers are managing the area with no management experience or true idea of what shift worker go through. Ideas or alternate ideas or not considered from a technician level. We have 5 engineers for every technician, but they continue to cut technicians and hire more engineers.
No retirement, insurance gets more costly every year, bonuses are a fraction of the competition.

Advice to Management

Need to realize that the technicians/operators pay the bills.

I have been working at Bayer full-time

    Pros

It's difficult to think of any pros, although I guess it depends upon the department. I worked in IT, and the environment was beyond dull.

    Cons

All decisions are made in Germany, and people in the US are expected to obey without question. Most people had about 5 bosses, only one of which might be located in the US. If you prefer to leave your brain at home and just do whatever you are told, this is the place for you. If your best strength is kissing up to your boss, you will be on the management fast track.

I worked at Bayer full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Fast moving, high responsibility, aging work force with opportunity for younger professionals. In addition, the company benefits and concentration of treating the employee well far exceed my other past employers.

    Cons

A strong German company that still values German employees over Americans and PhDs dominate the management. If you don not have the above listed attributes, your advancement will be limited.
