I have been working at Bayer as an intern (Less than a year)

Pros

- Intelligent and helpful coworkers
- In my department, there was free coffee (woohoo!), freedom to design one's own workspace, and a bevy of different projects to work on.
- I was given meaningful work to do - very rewarding feeling!
- Basketball court on-site
- Interns had several intern-only sessions facilitated by great HR folks, who conducted different activities that helped us as PEOPLE, not necessarily as employees or as interns
- Opportunity to attend company's Six Sigma green belt training
- Great HR, great manager, great department, great company. I would recommend an internship with Bayer to anybody.

Cons

Pace of work can vary from really slow to 'holy crap I have a lot to get done'

Advice to Management

Keep up the great work

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Bayer full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Don't typically push anyone out. If you want, you can spend you entire career here.
The new CEO seems energetic, with good ideas, and a long term vision.

    Cons

To call them austere would minimize it. Extremely bottom line focused, at the expense of long-term growth.
Passive aggressive culture. People are very nice superficially, but don't reveal their true motives.
Very bureaucratic and slow decision making.
It's not what you do or accomplish, it is who advocates for you. It's about who management is comfortable with, not who is most qualified.

    Advice to Management

Make promotions based on merit, not who is liked more or more well connected.
Set up on boarding for all new employees, both internal and external hires.
Focus more on the long term, not the short term.
Provide more transparent career and succession planning.
Promote strategists and people who have accomplished, not "potential".
Spend for the long term instead of bleeding assets for every penny of profit.

I have been working at Bayer full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good benefits, company co-pays for pension, nice atmosphere good location (close to Safeway etc.)

    Cons

The workload is too high while the payment is below the industry standard. Some people in the lower management are inexperienced with leading their teams.
