I have been working at Baylor College of Medicine full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Based in the largest medical center in the world, so there are additional opportunities for networking

Very collaborative, all P.I.s generally seem to want to help each other

Work hours are reasonable and benefits are quite good

    Cons

Private university, so maintaining lab funding is somewhat more difficult than at a state or government funded university, since all lab personnel are supported from grants with no additional support from the university

No undergraduate component, so if you want to teach there are very few opportunities

    Advice to Management

Support your graduate students and postdocs
