I worked at Baylor Scott & White Health full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Good staff education and benefits

Cons

Corporate is often in another city and doesn't care about the details.

Advice to Management

Don't tighten up on the nursing staff when management is sitting upstairs all fat and happy.

I worked at Baylor Scott & White Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good pay, good benefits, a lot of wonderful experienced people with clinical backgrounds that genuinely want to make a difference. Diverse hiring.

    Cons

Running too lean and pushing to be more lean. IT (BIS) does not invest the time and resources to get it done correct the first time. The IT infrastructure is such a critical element to day to day operation and success of the Hospitals, yet BIS seems completely disconnected from the top leadership in the org. A great deal of time is spend fixing issues, putting out fires, instead of taking the time to figure out a long term solution. No work/life balance.

    Advice to Management

Corporate needs to get eyes on IT. They seem to always be one step away from disaster in an extremely complex environment.

I have been working at Baylor Scott & White Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Level 1 trauma ctr, high acuity, good nursing and ancillary teamwork

    Cons

ED/Upper management, total retaliation for any person that strays from the path even when it is in the interest of patient care. Money is the king of Baylor, always.

    Advice to Management

If you propose you follow the foundation and teachings of Christ, best re-read the manual. Threats, covert treatment of employees and money should not be the tenant for Baylor
