I worked at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (Less than a year)

Pros

Coworkers can be fun, Great for the extrovert, respect days off, decent starting salary for recent college grads or individuals without degrees

Cons

Very time consuming/time demanding, unrealistic goals set by corporate cause lack of cohesiveness at store level, innovation/changes for the sake of changing, too much pressure on bridal business to carry the company, 10 hours days and only 30 minutes to eat, lack of payroll hours turns managers into highly paid hourly associates - hinders manager success

Advice to Management

Enforce and support processes that support REALISTIC goals, stop cutting hours, let managers be managers, treat employees as people -> not cogs in a machine.

    I have been working at Bed Bath & Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    flexible schedules, product incentives, ancient software, no accountability, will always take care of their customers. Regional staff very pleasant. Customer Service focused company. Ability to control the look and product quantity in the store.

    Cons

    Extremely long days. Some days I worked from 6am to 10 pm. No hours to cover store needs, unable to train new associates correctly. Employees are given a 20% discount but so are all of the customers because of their coupon policy. Loss prevention never responds to needs of the store. District staff is rarely well mannered. Open till 11 for the holidays is a waste of resources and is burning up the productivity of the team.

    Advice to Management

    Take time to train associates in the building to better support the key holders. Close at 10 during holidays. Require district staff to each be present in the store at least once per month. Require each LP manager to be available and require them to respond to emails or calls within 48 hours
