Negative Outlook
Approves of CEO

I have been working at Beechcraft full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Great travel and excitement with the right department. Headquarters in a great city (Wichita). Good compensation for certain positions. Great people to work with.

Cons

Cannot keep management staff for more than a couple years. Always changing supervisors who come in and try to repeat what previous managers have tried to do. Union work force is so counter-productive.

    Pros

Good benefits package and good starting pay. The employees that are close to retirement are very nice. Good tuition assistance if you can find the time outside of work and if your supervisor approves it.

    Cons

First and foremost this company has a serious middle management problem. Managers seem to be ringers and most don't even know how to fly an airplane. In my experience if they need to know something they run and cram the night before. They recently instituted pay raises but only for a select few including the senior leadership to retain the senior leadership (which does not make sense since nobody wants leadership from a restructure/bankruptcy.) Middle management has a good ole boy system and if your British you are layoff proof. Tuition assistance paid for by taxpayers but employees (also taxpayers) can not take classes if the manager does not approve. Cannot take classes during work hours which can be difficult because of the work load, and there is no in house training or mentoring which makes it a great stepping stone for new employees. With the layoffs and impending layoffs the atmosphere is abrasive with cloak and dagger especially from the ole boys club. Bullying.

    Advice to Management

There are senior managers, functional managers, directors, project managers, project engineers, chief engineers, senior this, senior that....but is there any real work going on here? The senior leaders are actually doing a good job but the middle management and the lengths that they are willing to go to protect their jobs is what is really obstructing company progress.

  2. "potential unrealized"

    Pros

Solid products with a good potential

    Cons

Opportunities for those who clearly work harder and are more upwardly mobile- they rarely get the job.

    Advice to Management

Certain employees that are clearly over qualified for lower level jobs working for under preforming leaders
