Pros

The HR folks are very nice and responsive when asking questions.
Vacation accrual is good, and benefits are OK.

Cons

Belcan itself is fine, but remember that you're a contractor at wherever Belcan has you, so it really depends on how they are.

Advice to Management

Management does a good job, buys us lunch every so often and gives awards when earned.

    Pros

Belcan is very flexible with your hours. You can work five 8 hour days or 4 ten hour days or anything in between as long as you get your job done. Also, they make a point of making sure that knowledge is spread around between collegues. It is a good place to visit and learn a few thing. Then, move on.

    Cons

The biggest downside is that once an employee becomes somewhat adept at something you are kept doing the same thing over and over. If you run ANSYS, your stuck doing that. If you run UG, you stay doing that. People get trapped in a box and are not let out as long as they can bill to a job. Which, leads to an odd side effect of people being promoted to Project Management positions because thy are unable to be analysts or designers. That isn't always the case, but it is that most of the time. I actually had a job review where I was complimented on running a software package that I never ran.
Another con is the business model. They have one customer per location. So, if that customer pulls out you are out of luck. That also forces downward pressure on raises, so don't expect them too often once you reach a senior level.

    Advice to Management

Widen your customer base so the customer doesn't own Belcan. Also, let people try something new occasionally and expand their skill set.
