I have been working at Benefitfocus as a contractor (Less than a year)

Pros

Great surroundings, beautiful trails for walking and biking.

Cons

Zero professionalism across the organization. Zero processes in place. Little to no communication between teams. Zero respect for seasoned professionals. Lack of hard controls on PHI data. Many associates lack business acumen and could benefit from a training session on it. Unbalanced in a diversified work place

Advice to Management

Implement service management before considering going international. Hire seasoned professionals who know how run a business. Review your demographics to ensure a balanced work place when it comes to diversity

I worked at Benefitfocus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Good place to get started

-one of the few decent places to work in charleston

    Cons

-Currently, 2 months after an IPO, there is not a stock sharing program for employees, as a company that LOVES to pretend they model themselves after Silicon Valley tech companies, they are far from it.

-When clients like NCSHP (north carolina state health plan) come in for site visits they fill seats with temps + random employees for the facade that they have FT employee's but in the contract it is worded as 'co-sourced'... yup outsourced!

    -Shawn is an egomaniac

-Most exec's do not listen, and are merely there to appease Shawn, little innovation is truly made.

-Shawn lied to customers at OnePlace 2013, they have 3 employees in the SF office, and cannot attract talent out their because they are so cheap and unwilling to pay for quality employees.

    Advice to Management

Dont treat Shawn like a God.
