Pros

The pay system is fair compared to other retailers and the benefits are good. You get a great staff discount as well.

Cons

There is no job security. They are constantly restructuring and eliminating positions. For the last few years they have reduced their management teams each year laying off hundreds of hardworking employees. They don't allocate enough labour to stores to cover the needs of the customers. Departments often run with one employee on duty at a time and customers are left waiting for help. Employees are stressed and customers are upset. They set their targets high and constantly coach employees to achieve these targets yet advertise to customers that they are no pressure sales. Staff are instructed to convince customers to get warranty and service.

Advice to Management

Should have a viewpoint system for rating district teams. JOS system should be more fair.

    Too much focus on results. District teams tell you wrong not right. Company keeps restructuring not enough labour for customers.

    Pros

    General new employee training was good
    The discount - except have to wait 3 months to use it
    Decent starting pay

    Cons

    My training for home theater has been really bad. I was given very little instruction and overall the department seems kind of unorganized.
    Working in a huge store, not very personal
    I felt like they didn't really inform me about everything i needed to know on my first couple of shifts
    difficult learning curve about products
    annoying sales approach

    Advice to Management

    Ensure that new employees are properly trained and looked after
    Get to know the employees better
    Be available for questions/review
    Schedule more people
