I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gained knowledge and expertise in customer service, and sales. Teamwork and job training was used on a daily basis. Many employees are friendly, share thoughts and there is a sense of community.

    Cons

The pay is low. There was a lot of prejudice from management. Employees with talents and abilities were not rewarded for their hard work. Assets to the company were not recognized due to favoritism and poor management.

    Advice to Management

Try not to hold prejudices. Be open and honest with all employees. A false front does not last even in professional relationships.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Best Buy is a great place to work. Benefits include an average salary, bonus potential, health and wealth benefits, employee discounts on products and services, and a well developed development path.

    Cons

Over the last 12 years there are a few cons. The company is obviously retail, so salary is based on 50 hours per week, blackout dates during holidays and meeting months in which time off cannot be taken, and low accountability with hourly associates.

    Advice to Management

Avoid the ever present favoritism among associates that perform, instead performance manage those who don't want to participate. Ensure timely reviews and development with associates and be understanding regarding time off when associates actually need it.
