I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

Strong emphasis on Employee satisfaction
Excellent Benefits and Bonus incentives
Better than competitive pay

Cons

Long Hours, averaging 60/week as a salaried manager
Nights, Weekends and ALL Holidays
6+ day work weeks several weeks a year
In other words, no such thing as a work/life balance. its all work, including several times daily phone calls.

Advice to Management

Remember that managers are employee's too, and family should be higher on the priority list.
Their is no use to having an SOP if stores are allowed to deviate from that and create their own policies or procedures.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Hands on experience with a lot of new technology. Can meet some very interesting and diverse co-workers.

    Cons

In the current times extremely difficult to advance within company. Many ideas are not seemingly implemented to improve employee morale. Currently, in the name of saving money many non-leadership positions are being cut and those who stay are asked to fill-in for the work that others did with no additional pay raise or regard to coverage and staffing.

    Advice to Management

Promote those who actually care and try. Be more selective with hires. Restore older employee benefits. Lastly, give employees all tools necessary to assist and take care of customer instead of making employees seem like the bad guys.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

While you schedule does vary Best Buy works hard to make sure you can have work life balance, and your opinion can actually make an impact

    Cons

It can be a very demanding job, and you do spend a lot of your time during the holiday's at the store.

    Advice to Management

Be ready to handle multiple things at once, and make sure you are focused on the employee experience.
