I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As long as you can talk clearly, follow basic instructions, and put up with the prevalent attitude of arrogance that comes from management your job is pretty much secure.

    Cons

Managers will play favorites. Long-time employees tend to be incredibly rude and arrogant to newcomers. Management sometimes is a catalyst for incredibly uncooperative and arrogant behavior. Employees that have been there too long become jaded at the dissatisfaction of their choices and take this anger out on newcomers, unfortunately these people also become managers and the result is a company-wide culture that is the opposite of everything they make themselves out to be. Often employees will refuse to help each other because of the "its not my department" attitude. Once I even witnessed an employee telling an inquisitive customer to "wait here, I will find out and be right back" while she simply clocked-off and went home.

    Advice to Management

STOP being rude to your employees and STOP playing favorites. Monitor employee behavior and LISTEN to the behavioral complaints coming from employees about coworkers and other managers. If their is a problem in a department evaluate the manager first then the employees. many problems within the store are the result of a few VERY rude and hostile employees who have the backing of a petty and incompetent manager. This attitude not only destroys morale, but spills over into the services provided to the customers and results in an incredibly bad image for the store. Cannot tell you how many times I had to apologize to a customer for someones rudeness or behavior.
