I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 10 years)

Pros

* Company runs like a sports team...it's not about how long you've been there or who you know, but what you contribute to the team. It's one of the few places where if you work your butt off, you will be recognized and rewarded for that
* Great overall benefit package for FT employees and they are working hard to create solid benefits for PT employees as well
* Potential for overall personal development is higher than most places, but you have to be willing to go after it and show you truly are willing to work for it

Cons

* Last few years, they have lost sight of their core values, and in some parts of the company, they are pushing hard without recognition or reward to go along with it
* Low volume stores are like working for a totally different company, and the employees and managers there work much harder for the same or less than the rest of the company

Advice to Management

* ensure the values are truly being lived at ALL levels, especially with your district and territory staffs, who have too much power
* truly learn what life in a low volume store is like, don't just believe what your territory teams are telling you

I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The company pays very well and allows promotion for part time employees as well as part time leadership roles. Stores are very busy and bordem rarely occurs. Many different departments to explore skill set.

    Cons

Company requires too many hours over the holiday season as well as insane 12 hour black friday shifts. politics within store can mostly determine if promotion occurs.

    Advice to Management

Better opportunities for out of store growth
