I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Depending on your location you will work with some GREAT people.

Cons

Pay is ehhh... But it is retail, so I guess its ok. You will deal with angry customers wanting grade A+ service on their computers, but they want to pay Monopoly money.....

Advice to Management

Be more friendly with your employees! And stop letting your position go to your head, and step off the high horse my friend!

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

fun atmosphere most of the time. I've been there 6 years and i love the people i work with. Customer interactions are very fun and as long as you know what your doing, it can be very easy as well

    Cons

Not paid enough for the amount of what you have to put up with. If your a sales consultant like me, you deal with all the issues plus have to sell, and the salary doesn't quite match up. If your a supervisor, you get paid more and have to do less work. It never made sense to me. The only other thing is the politics. Every place has it, but you really have to make an effort.. Its not always about how hard you work

    Advice to Management

If you really want to get to know the employees who are applying for jobs within the company for promotion. try an make the interview more informal. Sitting across the table form someone and writing down everything they say is very uncomfortable. Also i shouldn't have to write everything down on paper every time i coached one of my fellow associates. If your job is to observe me, then do it. I should not be skipped over for promotion just because i didn't write something down on a piece of paper. in a nutshell. cut down on being so formal and go back to having fun like it used to be.
