I worked at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good GM Salary, benefits and discounts, access to online training to to increase product knowledge. Depending on leadership, had the ability to assert own business strategies to help impact business.

    Cons

Company is extremely incestuous, all of leadership is aware but nothing is done to curb this behavior. This takes place at junior and senior leadership levels which causes great strain at the store level as it includes an abuse of favoritism.
My experience with Area Supervisors was bleak. Most are non-existent when it comes to daily activities, training, follow-up and meeting commitments.

    Advice to Management

My advice to upper management is to spend as much time and effort into training junior management as you do store management and hourly employees. In my experience, once someone is promoted to an area management position the training ends. That leaves them stumbling through how to manage in a multi-unit environment.
Stop the inappropriate fraternizing, at corporate events it is catastrophic of which I have personally witnessed sexual harassment.
