I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Amazing discount on all product categories, depending on the store training can be amazing for employees, family type atmosphere within your specific discipline (department to department ok)

Cons

Some projected budgets can be astronomical and unattainable

Advice to Management

Do not lower expectations on projected revenue or growth but be more realistic when setting the goals in the first place, can be discouraging to employees when some stores never hit their target.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

young, "hip" people, a lot of college students, pretty good pay for a basic cashier position

    Cons

there is extreme pressure to sell "product replacement plans." Customers listen to the radio; they have been trained not to buy them, so they are generally harder to sell (think $5 on an $8 pair of headphones). But if you don't reach their percentages and goals for the day, you are written up and can be terminated. It's stressful for a cashiering job.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

At the time I worked at Best Buy it seemed like there was plenty of upward mobility if you were willing to put in the time. Everyone I worked with was very close-knit and it was a great store at the time.

    Cons

Unfortunately by the time I was let go as a seasonal employee due to school, the company was changing. It was becoming highly revenue driven and didn't feel the same as it did when I first started.
