I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

Employee discounts (Pre-2011) and management usually will deal with the BS so we don't have to

Cons

Angry Customers, constantly trying to put out fires

Advice to Management

Give your geek squad agents more freedom to make it right with the customers

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Positive attitudes from almost everyone - no pain in the ass supervisors
If you work hard you are recognized for it - decent motivation tactic
Get to interact with people all day
Get to stay updated on the newest products and technologies as well as test out alot of brand new things
    Good discount on store products
    Decent schedule flexibility

    Cons

Low pay - I worked as hourly sales person and got paid like $8.75. Not so bad if I was just hanging out doing a half-ass job but this is a sales job and you are pressured to hit quotas. At least give me some motivation to hit numbers. I could stand in a mall store and stare at people all day for 8 bucks an hour.
Irritating Teambuilding exercises that are just ridiculous most times. Make you show up early on days even if you don't work that day to spend an hour or two on a teambuilding exercise. Feels like something done back in grade school or a summer kids program. Really Cheesy
Closing the store and putting up product is something a monkey could do but somehow takes forever

    Advice to Management

Either raise the pay or allow bonuses or commission or something to offset the low hourly pay to floor sales people. Update the teambuilding concepts and exercises

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Best Buy part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its a job in this economy. Everybody has to start somewhere.

    Cons

Low wage, no room to advance, too many grown adults who are still acting as if they are in high school. There is a reason why the turnover is so enormous.

    Advice to Management

Don't make 20 year olds supervisors. Remember that the people these kids are in charge of have no tact on how to talk to employees because they let the power get to their heads. Managers are the same way.
