I worked at Best Buy (More than a year)

Pros

Employees are great to work with, as well as managers.

Cons

Managers keep AP as an afterthought and do not put emphasis on the position until something bad happens.

Advice to Management

Realize that as a technology retail store, there will always be people trying to steal your product, so put more energy into the position.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

flexible scheduling, co-workers, discount, cool store atmosphere, Geek Squad Culture!

    Cons

long hours, understaffed, poor computer systems, compensation

    Advice to Management

Find a strategy and stick with it and fully invest in it. Geek Squad precincts across the country are in dire need of remodels and tools to correctly do their jobs (systems). Good Agent's don't get paid enough to stick around and we are constantly getting additional fulfillment services added to us. You're taking a premium brand and turning it into a problem center.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The only reason to work for best buy is if you need semi-flexible hours and you want to practice your sales skills.

    Cons

The lack of hours - I started out with 25 approx. hours, but was reduced to 5-7 after a year and half without reason. I tried multiple occasions to discuss this with management and they refused to adjust the problem. They would say they would correct the problem, but then never did.

    Customers treat you terribly

    Advice to Management

It is incredibly inconsiderate to reduce an employees hours to 5-7 per week. If there was reasoning it should have been discussed prior to this occurring. It's disrespectful and you have no idea how the lack of hours is affecting that individual financially.
