I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 5 years)

Pros

Great Pay! Decent Benefits, Employee discount is awesome.

Cons

Zero Job security. Not much of a work / life balance as a manager.

Advice to Management

Give the stores control over In-Home Geek Squad agents

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great Place to work at. Great people to work with. Great managers and supervisors. Great environment. Very chill.

    Cons

Hours are not as much as expected if you are a part-timer and the store does not have any labor to hand out. Discount is not as great as before.

I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I worked at a couple other retailers before Best Buy and I can easily say that BBY was the best. The employees were cool and most of the managers genuinely had my back when customer issues came up. I worked in Home Theater and then Mobile. Mobile is where you want to be if you want to potentially make the most money, unless you work in one of the Magnolia design centers where they make a commission. The training videos were always funny and employees were regularly recognized for being awesome. As long as you manage your expectations and accept that it is still just a retail job, you'd be happy to work at BBY. Opportunity for advancement if you want it. Stock option, health insurance, tuition assistance.

    Cons

At the end of the day, it's still retail. During my time there I had a lot of manager and GM shuffling so the rapport I had with with some management was lost.

    Advice to Management

Be on your employees' side, then they'll be on your side.
