I have been working at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

Pros

Pretty flexible scheduling, will work with you if you have academics or another job.
Good culture, co-workers are friends and pretty laid back environment IF you are making your goals.
I have enjoyed my experience working there and work goes by fast.
AWESOME DISCOUNT

Cons

Goals can be a bit much.
Raises are VERY low unless you exceed goals each and every month.
Work can be a bit repetitive.
In my location, the break room and bathrooms are absolutely disgusting.

Advice to Management

When coaching employees, do not just demand a certain selling style. Everyone has their own way of selling and if that works, let them be.
Teach employees more on product knowledge before diving into selling techniques.
Online training is not a good way to teach employees on product knowledge, hands-on experience is key.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are lots of opportunities to learn and explore a wide range of high tech and state of the art electronics. Appears to be a lot of opportunities to advance and lateral within the stories and within corporate.

    Cons

I work with a wide range of ages and experience levels. Professionalism varies widely. Some of my co-workers need lots of coaching and training. Occasionally, some customers are incredibly difficult, rude, curt, unreasonable and downright hateful. Verbal judo and other communications skills should be mandatory training.

    Advice to Management

Get organized and set the pace by living what you are preaching. Praise in public, criticism in private. Know your people and what motivates them. Be open and honest in all dealings. Take the time to listen to their concerns and questions. Provide accurate and timely feedback on performance. Help everyone develop a career plan for advancement. Take time to get to know a little about your team.
