I worked at Best Buy part-time (More than a year)

Pros

I enjoyed the team based atmosphere in our store, and the company culture (have fun while being the best).

Cons

Like with any job, the people that you work for matter the most. I had one supervisor who was not very mindful of people's schedules and another who went above and beyond to take care of us.

Advice to Management

If the company is going to fail, it is going to fail, messing around with the employee discount isn't going to make or break the company, so just leave it alone!

I have been working at Best Buy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with (usually) ..
    Decent discount on certain items...
That's really all that I can think of at this time...

    Cons

Management is deaf to suggestions from lower level employees. Corporate has on several occasions made very shady policy changes, and when the policy would fall through, corporate was quick to pass the buck and blame the line level employees.

When I first started the employee turnover was near 0%, but in the last 6 months our turnover has skyrocketed to nearly 100%.

    Advice to Management

Take ownership of the consequences of your actions.
Take suggestions from your line level employees, because usually they can tell you whether or not your idea will actually work or not.
Understand that without your line level employees there would be NO Best Buy, and if you take care of them, then you'll attract top level talent.

I have been working at Best Buy full-time

    Pros

the coworkers were all great and became friends outside of work, supervisors were friendly, the employee discount you can't beat, decent breaks

    Cons

the hourly pay, distance although I could have transferred stores, sometimes the work environment is to busy with no workers available, constantly updating areas and planograms

    Advice to Management

give a bit higher pay and maybe your workers will work that extra step harder for you guys
