Pros

I work with the most awesome, caring people! The benefits are good and the 401K program is awesome!

Cons

Sr. leaders are on the road most of the time so visibility to this level of leadership is limited.

Advice to Management

Sr. leaders could make better use of video technology to communicate with employees more regularly.

    Pros

    Co-workers are exceptional people, who care deeply about their families and about their Company. The Company invests in training and technology, and has a strong culture of promoting from within. Most employees are happy if they are in career level positions.

    Cons

    You only think of the negatives when you are comparing Best Western to other organizations in Phoenix. The salaries are lower than the competition, benefits cost more, bonus program is only available to Directors and higher (or employees present before 2007), and the office buildings are outdated. Many salary ranges were established over 7 years ago, so what tends to happen is people are promoted or hired to incorrect job titles, which results in an imbalanced org chart.

    Advice to Management

    I would fix the bonus program to make it fair to all employees, to promote exceptional performance, and to ensure we hire better candidates in entry/mid level positions. It will take courage to suggest this to the board. The way the Company handled increasing healthcare costs was sad, especially for entry level employees. Call Center employees can't afford coverage. Finally, large, all employee meetings are not the only form of communication that is effective.
