I worked at Better Business Bureaus full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The people who work here have a not-for-profit heart with for-profit acumen and expertise. Great leadership and many opportunities to contribute to further development of the organization's programs.

Cons

Salary is what you would expect for a nonprofit. Often deal with angry businesses and/or consumers.

Advice to Management

Continue to look for talent among your "low-level" staff and provide open doors for new ideas.

I worked at Better Business Bureaus full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Holidays, celebrations, free health insurance.

    Cons

Only 6 days off during your first year of employment, they play favorites, shady business practices, hard to get a raise, high turnover (in an office of 50 I saw at least 30 come and go in just 18 months), no burn out prevention, benefits are poor for anyone who has a family or is planning to start one, too sales oriented.

    Advice to Management

Push department managers to do their jobs more thoroughly. Operate more ethically. You preach about advancing trust in the marketplace but but bend the rules for businesses when it means a large sale. I lost almost all pride in working there by the end of it which contributed in my departure. The turnover is so high that the employees who do stay long term are forced to do there work and the work of the others that are constanty leaving. Invest more effort in keeping your employees.
